What is a search engine?
A software tool that searches the internet for information based on keywords (e.g. Google, Bing).
What is a digital library?
An online collection of academic or professional resources such as books, journals, and research papers.
What is the purpose of information security policies?
To protect data through remote access controls, password rules, and usage guidelines.
What is GDPR?
General Data Protection Regulation; an EU law that protects personal data and privacy.
What are direct sources of data?
Data collected firsthand by the researcher for a specific purpose (e.g., surveys, experiments, interviews).
What are indirect sources of data?
Data originally collected by someone else, used secondarily (e.g., government reports, books, articles).
What is considered personal data?
Any information that can be used to identify a person, such as name, address, email, ID number, IP address, location data, and hospital records.
Where is data about you stored?
Online services, government databases, healthcare systems, social media, cloud storage, and employers’ databases.v
Who is a data subject?
The individual whose personal data is being processed.
