Department for Education (DfE)

A

The DfE is a government department based in central government. It is responsible for education at all levels and for children’s services.It works on new legislation and laws that give a framework for education. As we have already seen in EyFs and the national curriculum. It provides a funding formula so money is given to schools as well as frameworks and guidance.

Ofsted

A

This is a non ministerial organisation; this means it is run by the government but is not overseen by a politician in order to protect its work from political influence. It works with the government and it inspects schools and children’s services to make sure high standards are maintained. They go into schools and write reports that anyone can access.

Ofqual

A

The also work with the government and is non ministerial. Its responsibilities include regulating qualifications and assessments to make sure the hey are fit for purpose and fairly applied. Exam boards now work in line with ofqual regulations.
