provisions Flashcards
Voluntary Provision
Provision that has been set up funded by donations and voluntary contributions. It may be run by a charity or church group in the local community and parents may have to pay a contribution to help cover costs. Depending on the way the setting operated, parents may stay and supervise their children. The setting must be registered and inspected by ofsted.
Statutory Provision
Statutory or maintained provision is the term used for settings that are government funded, as they must be available by law e.g schools. They are registered and inspected by ofsted.
Independent provision
Provision which is not paid for by government or state funding, so in most cases parents will be charged for them. Some free or subsidised places are offered in line with schools’ charitable status and some children may be placed in these settings by local authorities. They must be registered with the government and inspected regularly.
