Family history, age (tended to develop in young people), race (caucasians more likely to develop)

polyuria, polydipsia, ketonuria, tiredness, itching around genitals, blurred vision, numbness in hands and feet

reduce fat/ salt/ sugar intake, be active, lose weight, DESMOND, metformin, HTN treatment (ACEI, ARBs, CCB, diuretics)
