Discovering Cells Lesson Flashcards
(4 cards)
What are the 3 statements that make up the Cell Theory?
The 3 statements are:
- All living things are composed of cells.
- Cells are the basic units of structure and function in living things.
- All cells are produced from other living cells.
How do specialized cells share a division of labor? What types of organisms are they found in?
Specialized cells share a division of labor by diving the jobs. One cell does one kinds of a job, while other types of cells do other jobs. Specialized cells are found in multicellular organisms such as humans.
What is the difference between unicellular and multicellular organisms? Give an example of each
Multicellular organisms are made of many cells. Unicellular organisms are made of only one cell.
Example of a multicellular organism: humans
Example of a unicellular organism: amoeba
What are the five levels of organization in the human body? Define each
• A cell is the basic unit of structure and function in living
things.
• A tissue is a group of similar cells that work together to
perform a specific function.
• An organ is made up of different kinds of tissues that
function together.
• An organ system is a group of organs that work together
to perform a major function.
