Looking Inside Cells Lesson Flashcards
(6 cards)
The is the function of a cell wall?
The cell wall supports and protects the cell (plant cells only).
What is the function of ribosomes?
The ribosomes produce the proteins needed by the cell.
How’s the function of mitochondria differs from the function of chloroplasts?
Mitochondria convert energy in food molecules to energy
the cell can use to carry out its functions, while
chloroplasts capture energy from sunlight and change it
to a form of energy cells can use in making food.
Learn the chart from learning about cells types:
Organism:
1. Mixed bacteria- cell wall and cytoplasm (structures observed), unicellular, no nucleus.
- Anabaena- cell wall and cytoplasm (structures observed), multicellular, no nucleus.
- Onion cells- cell wall, nucleus, and cytoplasm (structures observed). Multicellular.
- Elodea cells- cell wall, nucleus, cytoplasm, chloroplasts, vacuole (structures observed). Multicellular.
- Human Cheek Cells- cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm (structures observed). Multicellular.
What are the 3 structures all cells have?
The 3 structures are: cytoplasm, a cell membrane, and genetic material.
What are the different organelles found in plant and animal cells?
• plant cells contain chloroplasts, a cell wall, and a very
large vacuole. Usually do not have lysosomes.
• animal cells do NOT contain chloroplasts or a cell wall.
They have lysosomes and smaller vacuoles.
