What is Train Ready to Start (TRTS) ?
A button pressed by dispatchers and conductors at certain stations to inform the signaller the train is ready to depart and they require a proceed aspect and correct route indication.
What is a Station Work Complete Signal
A signal given from a dispatcher to a conductor. This informs the conductor the dispatch corridor is clear and they are okay to close the main doors.
What is the Train Safety Check?
Carried out by the Conductor (and dispatcher if you have one) after the Station Work Complete step. This is important and you must check
• the train doors are properly closed
• nothing or nobody is trapped in the doors
• nobody is in contact with the train
• it is safe to start the train.
(With Staff Dispatch, the dispatcher will raise the white baton for the second time)
What is the ready to start signal?
Signal given to the driver after all doors are closed including the local door and station work is complete. You give the signal by pressing twice on the bell buzzer. The driver will repeat it back to you.
What are your methods of Communication with the Driver?
• Face-to-Face
• Cab-to-Cab
• Bell-Buzzer Codes
• Flags
• Torch (Green)
• Passcom
What must you do if your Bell-Buzzer is defective
You must come to a clear understanding with Driver about how to proceed (usually by way of green flag or light) and maintenance control must be informed.
