what is the structure of the early DV pattern in the SC
there is the roof plate, floor plate and notochord. the center dividing line in the tube is called the sulcus limitans
what do correlative experiments show us

what does the notochord do?
it secretes Shh and induces the floor plate -in turn inducing the expression of Shh.
what does Shh do
specifies neuronal cell fate. produces the motor neurons. this is concentration dependent. this ventralizes the cord!
