Characterisation
Characterisation is creation of a character through the act of changing voice, body language, movement, gesture etc. to portray a clear and appropriate character for a performance
Blocking
Rehearsal technique of planning and deciding the location of actors on stage and the movements they make in the scene. The process of blocking is done during rehearsals and is a collaborative effort between the actors and the director.
Split Scene
Two scenes (in different places and / or times) happening at the same time on stage.
Direct Audience Address
when a character (or a group of characters) speaks directly to the audience rather than speaking to another character or simply musing aloud
Pace
How fast a line is spoken: fast or slow etc.
Hero
Brave, Strong, Courageous, Selfless, Saves the day,
Falls in love with Damsel in Distress/ Heroine
Damsel In Distress/ Heroine
Innocent, Brave, Needs saving, Gets captured by the villain/ evil sidekick, Best friends with Loveable Rogue, traditionally saved by the Hero, falls in love with the Hero
Villain
Evil, Sly, Manipulative, Kidnaps the Damsel in Distress, always comes up with cunning and evil plan to get rich/ married/ defeat the Hero
Evil Sidekick
Sidekick to the Villain, Stupid, Gets almost everything wrong, easily distracted/ fooled, messes up the Villain’s plans
Loveable Rogue
Best friend to the Damsel in Distress/ Heroine, Silly, Innocent, Clumsy, Scruffy, Energetic, Comic Relief
