You just enterd ECA-0.0 and the BOPCO brought to your attention that a red path on heat sink is valid. Do you transition to FR-H.1?

What is special about entering ECA-0.0?

A

No

  • ECA-0.0 has priority over all other procedures includeing FRG’s (they are monitored for info only)

ECA-0.0 is the only EOP that has direct entry without entering E-0

What are the three flow paths isolated in step 7 “isolate RCP seal cooling?

What is the purpose for isolating each?

A
  • seal injection
    • protects the seals during plant recovery, during accident seals heat up, upon restoration of power, cold charging could hit seals and damage them further
  • seal return
    • prevents backleakage to VCT and other aux bldg tanks via VCT releif valves (could raise rad lvls and limit personel transit)
  • RCP therm bar CCW return
    • prepare plant for recovery and prevents water hammer in CCW system (wtr in therm barrier -> stm, when flow restored= wtr hmr)

What is the big picture problem with a loss of all vital AC power?

What is overall purpose of ECA-0.0

A

you have a SBLOCA through your RCP seals, you will eventually uncover the core and have inadequate core cooling

whole point of procedure is to get power back and prolong time to core uncovery
