- Population grew significantly, decline in rate of mortality
- From 1520s agricultural prices rose significantly therefore increase in farming income
- Debasement of Coinage created short term artificial boom in 1544 to 1546 but long term cost to living standards

led to increases in food prices almost doubled across his reign - Real wages declined for many
- Half the population of Coventry were recorded as having no real wealth
- 5000 migrants a year adding to London population

Impact of Enclosure
A
- Enclosure of common fields had existed but had little impact
- Acts had been passed against enclosure in 1489 and 1515
- Wolsey launched an enclosure commission to sort out the issue
- 1534 further legislation attempted to limit sheep ownership and engrossing

- Put strain on supply of food which made it difficult to meet demand
- Problem worse by stagnating wages with loads of cheap labour
- The upper of society became richer and the lowers became poorer
