Q

What are the required planning minimas for enroute EDTO alternates?

A

* Single ILS*: 600ft or 400ft above the lowest authorized DH, whichever is highest and
3000m or 1500m above the lowest authorized VIS/RVR

* NPA/Circling: 800ft or 400ft above the lowest authorized MDH, whichever is highest and
3000m or 1500m above the lowest authorized VIS/RVR

  • With 2 separate runways the cloud base can be reduced by 200ft and VIS/RVR can be reduced by 1000m

14
Q

What is the difference between an EDTO ETP and CP?

A
  • ETP is a point on the route which is located at the same flying time from two suitable diversion airports
  • CP is an ETP which is critical to EDTO fuel requirements if a diversion is initiated from that point
CP is usually the last ETP within the EDTO segment

16
Q

What fuel is required for an EDTO flight?

A

Normal HKE fuel policy plus that enough fuel needs to be carried to allow a diversion to nearest suitable EDTO ERA from any point along the route.

Fuel to diversion has to cater for:
- Engine failure only
- Engine failure +
depress
- Pressurization only
+15 min hold at 1500ft
+ additive for icing

17
Q

Is EDTO considered extra fuel or is it part of the required fuel on the HKE fuel planning schedule?

A

It is included in the Fuel Required

18
Q

Define the Critical Fuel Scenario (CFS) as it relates to EDTO planning?

A

Most critical of:
- Engine failure + pressurization failure
- Pressurization failure only

19
Q

How is the CFS calculated for EDTO planning?

A
  • Burn off from CP to
    diversion AD
  • 5% of diversion burn
  • 15 min holding
  • Two approaches
  • Effect of MEL/CDL
  • APU fuel consumption
  • Icing, if forecasted
20
Q

Up until what point is the MEL applicable?

A

Up until the start of the takeoff roll

21
Q

After take-off on a EDTO flight, what minima apply once airborne?

A

Normal minima as per OM-C
