Q

Insignificance of Jenner

A
  • Opposed by many (e.g. church saw it as unnatural to use animal diseases to treat humans, royal society were skeptical and inoculators opposed this in fear of losing profit).
  • Idea was not essentially new (e.g. inoculation)
  • Lack of understanding why vaccinations worked which meant other scientists weren’t able to build on ideas and other diseases could not be treated.
