A

To prevent osteoporosis, an adequate calcium intake in diet, an adequate amount of Vitamin D and plenty of exercise is needed.

A
  1. Lifestyle changes to increase calcium intake, vitamin D production and exercise.
  2. Smoking contributes to the development of osteoporosis, so quitting smoking is an important lifestyle change for smokers.
  3. For some patients, medication can be used to prevent or treat the condition.

A

Is the deterioration of joint cartilage due to age or injury, to the point where bone surfaces aren’t protected.

Other factors include irritation of the joints, wear and abrasion, may also be involved

What happens to bone during osteoarthritis?

A

The exposed bone begins to wear away and body spurs or growths may develop from the exposed ends of the bone forming the joint.

These growths and spurs decrease the space within the joint cavity, restricting movement of the joint.
