Effects of vacuum suction
- Improves skin texture due to desquamation of dead skin cells.
- Fatty deposits softened
- Skin nourished - circ + oil used
- Promotes cellular renewal
- Skin colour improved due to increased circulation
- Circulation and lymphatic system stimulated improving cell nutrients and waste removal
-
Vacuum suction - safety
- Correct pressure/suction - no more then 20% of tissue up the vontouse
- Vontouse should never be stationary on skin
- Vontouse must glide over skin - not drag
- check vontouse for cracks & chips
- Remove vontouse from tube when not using
- Break suction before lifting off skin
- All strokes towards lymph nodes not over
- Self test machine
Specific contraindication for vacuum suction
- Hyper sensitive skin
- Loose creepy skin
- Hirsutism
- Bruising (restricted)
Contra-actions for vacuum suction
- Brusing
- Thread veins
- Erythema
What is the current for vacuum suction?
- Alternating current through a mechanical pump
Vacuum suction - How machine works?
- Air pumped through ventouse creates suction.
What current is Infra-red?
Alternating current at the wall.
Effects of Infra-red
- Increases blood and lymphatic system
- Improves skin texture
- Relaxes tense muscle
- Analgesic effect - pain relief
- Calms sensory nerves
Infra-red - safety
- No oil on skin
- Inverse square law- double the distance quadruple the time (45cm for 5mins)
- Cosine law- 90 degree angle (ensure ray is even)
- Turned on/off away from client to ensure bulb does not blow.
- Don’t touch lamp once on as very hot
No water spray around bulb
Infra-red - How machine works?
- A coil of resistance wire is embedded in a fire clay to form the heating elements. When current passes through the wire, it heats up and passes the heat onto the fire clay by conduction.
Infra-red specific contraindication
- sunburn
- cuts, abrasions
Infra-red contra-actions
- Erythema
Why use G5 massage?
-Powerful deep massage, or percussion, without tiring the therapist.
- Shorter treatment time which allows the therapist to treat more clients.
Effects of G5
- Relieves muscle pains snd spasms
- Aids in mobilising oedema fluid in swollen extremities.
Aids in the prevention of muscle fatigue - Joints in maintaining joint mobility
- Aids in maintaining muscle tone and circulation
- Increases circulation and lymphatic system
Moves lymph
