Q

Infra-red - How machine works?

A
  • A coil of resistance wire is embedded in a fire clay to form the heating elements. When current passes through the wire, it heats up and passes the heat onto the fire clay by conduction.

  • Bruising
21
Q

G5 - safety

A
  • Attachment sanitised before + after use
  • Talc as medium
  • Correct intensity to product first degree erythema
  • use for the correct amount of time
  • Do not massage over boney areas
  • Feed tissue into head
  • Head flat on skin
22
Q

G5 - How machine works?

A
  • Giratory vibration massage that vibrates and stimulates.
23
Q

What current is G5?

24
Q

Faradic specific contraindications

A
  • Metal pins & plates
  • Any nerve or muscle disorders
  • Pacemaker
  • Heart disorders
  • Epilepsy
    -Diabetic
25
Faradic contra-actions
- muscle fatigue
26
effects of faradic
- Improves tone of specific muscles, producing a reshaping effect - Increases metabolism of stimulated muscles - Improves blood & lymphatic circulation - Posture improvement - Slimming effect
27
Faradic - How machine works?
- Passive form of exercise - uses electrical stimulation to contract muscles
28
what current is faradic?
- Interrupted direct current @ low frequency
29
Faradic - safety
- Everything is plugged in properly - Gel applied to pads - Pad areas correctly - Use correct intensity and time - Do not move pad well current is flowing - turn up on a contraction
30
Effects of Galvanic negative & positive pole
Negative (cathode) - Produces alkaline reaction (sodium hydroxide) - Breaks down the acid mantle - softens skin improving texture Positive (anode) - Produces acid reaction (hydrochloric acid) - Restores the acid mantle Soothes nerve endings by having analgesic effect under the pads
31
Galvanic - safety
- Law of galvanism - opposites attract, likes repel - Ensure sponges damp - Apply even amount of saline/gel - Do not exceed 2.8-2.9 mA -Lower intensity once client feels tingling Switch of machine before reversing polarity Remove all jewellery
32
What current does galvanic use?
- Direct current
33
Galvanic specific contraindications
- Pacemaker - metal pins/plates - Epilepsy -Diabetic - Kidney infection
34
Galvanic - How does the machine work?
- Produces a chemical effect on the skin. Is an electrical treatment that passes through the skin & the effects depend on the polarity used.
35
Galvanic contra-actions
- Erythema - Tingling sensations
36
Effects of microcurrent
- Re-educates muscle tone - Increases ATP (energy producing chemical - Increases circulatory and lymphatic flow - Improves cellular regeneration - Increases collagen production Revives skins ability to hold water - None surgical body lift
37
Microcurrent contra-actions
- Muscle fatigue - Erythema
38
What current does micro current use?
- Modified direct current interrupted @ low frequency
39
What does M.E.N.S stand for?
- Microcurrent electrical neurotransmuscular stimulation.
40
How does micro current work?
- Stimulates the Golgi tendon organ - Thousand times smaller than the current used in other equipment - Uses different wavelengths - Relaxes and gently stimulates
41
What is the machine setting for micro current?
- Green light, lifting, square wave form, even contraction 1/2 - 3/4
42
What is anapharisis?
- Movement of anions towards an anode
43
What is cataphoresis?
- Movement of cations towards a cathode
44
Microcurrent - safety
- White electrode is stationary - One electrode is touching skin at all times - Electrodes don't touch each other - Use conducting gel
45
Microcurrent specific contraindications
- no jewellery - loss of sensation - metal pins and plates
