Q

Lighting Failure (3 steps)

A
  1. Check the appropriate circuit breaker.
  2. If the circuit breaker has opened, and there is no obvious indication of a short circuit (smoke or odor), turn the affected lights OFF, close the circuit breaker, and turn the lights ON again.
  3. If the circuit breaker opens again, do not reset until maintenance has been performed.

Q

Engine Failure during flight (7 steps)

A
  1. Airspeed -68 KIAS (best glide speed)
  2. FUEL SHUTOFF Valve -ON (push full in)
  3. FUEL SELECTOR Valve -BOTH
  4. FUEL PUMP Switch -ON
  5. Mixture Control -RICH (if restart has not occurred)
  6. MAGNETOS Switch -BOTH (or START if propeller is stopped, advance throttle slowly from idle and lean the mixture from full rich as required to obtain smooth operation.)
  7. FUEL PUMP Switch -OFF (if indicated fuel flow drops to zero, sign of failure of the engine driven fuel pump. return FUEL PUMP switch to ON)

Q

Fire during start on ground (3 steps if engine starts and 15 steps if engine fails to start)

A
  1. MAGNETOS Switch -START (continue cranking to start the engine).

IF ENGINE STARTS

  1. Power -1800 RPM for a few minutes.
  2. Engine -SHUTDOWN and inspect for damage.

IF ENGINE FAILS TO START

  1. Throttle Control -FULL (push full in)
  2. Mixture Control -IDLE CUTOFF (pull full out)
  3. MAGNETOS Switch -START (continue cranking)
  4. FUEL SHUTOFF Valve -OFF (pull full out)
  5. FUEL PUMP Switch -OFF
  6. MAGNETOS Switch -OFF
  7. STBY BATT Switch -OFF
  8. MASTER Switch (ALT and BAT) -OFF
  9. Engine -SECURE
  10. Parking Brake -RELEASE
  11. Fire Extinguisher -OBTAIN (have ground attendants obtainif not installed)
  12. Airplane -EVACUATE
  13. Fire -EXTINGUISH using fire extinguisher, wool blanket, ordirt.

Q

Engine fire in flight (7 steps)

A
  1. Mixture Control -IDLE CUTOFF (pull full out)
  2. FUEL SHUTOFF Valve -OFF (pull full out)
  3. FUEL PUMP Switch -OFF
  4. MASTER Switch (ALT and BAT) -OFF
  5. Cabin Heat and Air -OFF (except overhead vents)
  6. Airspeed -100 KIAS (If fire is not extinguished, increase glide speed to find an airspeed, within airspeed limitations, which will provide an incombustible mixture)
