What is empathising?
Ability to understand and share feelings of others
What is systemising?
The drive to analyse and construct systems
What does the theory explain?
Empathy is impaired explaining difficulty in social interaction and communication, however they have a hyper developed systemising ability which helps them to recall and attend to detail
What did Lawson find?
Men with/without ASB, 44 females from general population, females did better on empathising task, males without ASB did better on the empathising task, females did worse on systemising, males no difference
What is a weakness?
Biological explanations
