A

Describe the problems with encoding data
A
- Coarsening data may lead to loss of precision if dark brown, soused brown and light brown are all classed as brown
- Limited choice leading to less accurate data so may not be enough r categories when representing eye colour or age groups
- Valued judgements can lead to inconsistency for example if asked was the meal excellent very good or good one persons good may be very good for another.

- Fewer transcription errors
- Less hard disk space required
- Processing is faster
