What is the purpose of Thyroid Scintigraphy?
A
To determine if a thyroid nodule is hyperfunctioning (increased uptake of radioisotope leg, radioiodine]) or nonfunctioning (decrease uptake of radioisotope).
A hyperfunctioning nodule is less likely to be malignant.
A nonfunctioning nodule is more likely to be malignant.
