Endocrine And Reproductive System Flashcards
(94 cards)
Endocrine glands
Ductless or tubeless organs or groups of cells that are regulating and secreting hormones
Endocrine system
A system in charge of regulating glands and hormones
Hormones
Chemical in your body that are produced in glands and help regulate body functions
Hypothalamus
In your brain, the link between the endocrine system and the nervous system
List 4 or 6 of the glands and give the hormone or what it is in charge of.
Pituitary gland- master controller, tells other glands what to do
Testis- male reproductive organ, testosterone Is the hormone
Ovaries- female reproductive organ, estrogen is the hormone
Thyroid gland- regulates metabolism, body temp, and bone development
Pancreas- releases insulin
Pituitary gland
Master controller, in the brain and tells all other endocrine glands what to do
Thyroid gland
Found in the neck, and regulates metabolism, body temp, and bone development.
Parathyroid
Regulates calcium and phosphorus
Thymus gland
Regulates the development of the immune system and is found in the chest
Adrenal gland
Adrenaline
Pancreas
Releases insulin
Testis
The male reproductive organ, testosterone is the hormone
Ovaries
The female reproductive organ, estrogen is the hormone
Endocrine and reproduction link
In charge of the growth and development of reproduction
Function of male reproduction
To produce and store sperm and transfer sperm to egg
Reproductive system
The system of organs involved in producing offspring
Sperm
The male reproductive cell
Male secondary sex characteristics
Voice deepens
Facial and body hair
Shoulders broaden
Able to build muscle mass
Testosterone
Makes all the sex characteristics start, it is the male reproductive organ
Trace the pay of sperm from when they are produced to when they leave the body
Testis- produce the sperm
Scrotum- regulates sperm temperature
Epididymis- stores the sperm
Vas Deferns- connect the epididymis to the urethra
Seminal vehicle, prostate gland, and Cowper’s gland- secrete fluid
Semen- fluid and sperm combined
Urethra- carries out the urine and semen
Penis- carries out both urine and the semen
Tested
Two small glands that produce sperm
Scrotum
And external sac that the testes sit in and it regulates sperm temp
Epididymus
Large coiled up tubes that store sperm
Vas Deferns
Two long tubes that connect the epididymus to the urethra
