what symptoms should patients report when taking alendronic acid

A
  • oesophageal irritation such as dysphagia (swallowing problems), new or worsening heartburn, pain on swallowing or retrosternal pain (pain inside the chest)
  • any thigh, hip, or groin pain during treatment (Atypical femoral fractures)
  • any oral symptoms (Osteonecrosis of the jaw)
  • any ear pain, discharge from ear or an ear infection during treatment (Osteonecrosis of the external auditory canal)
  • note: if a pt gets any symptoms of oesophageal irritation, pt should stop taking alendronic acid + seek medical attention*
