Role of the endocrine system?
make and release hormones to help maintain growth, metabolism, development, stress, reproduction, and homeostasis (balance)
How does the endocrine system send messages?
Through hormones being released in the bloodstream that act on target cells with the right receptors.
how is the endocrine system different from the nervous system?
Endocrine = slower but long lasting effects
Nervous = faster, uses electrical signals
What hormone lowers blood sugar?
insulin
What hormone raises blood sugar?
glucagon
What hormone caues the release of an egg?
