Penicillin adverse effects
-Hypersensitivity
-Seizures

-IV calcium and ceftriaxone administered together precipitates

Can be used with penicillin allergic patients
FQ adverse effects
-Peripheral neuropathy (black box warning)
-Prolonged QTc
-Use with caution in patients with hypokalemia, QTc prolongation, and concomitant antiarrhythmics
-Articular cartilage damage (do not give to pregnant or breastfeeding women)
-Tendonitis and tendon rupture (risk in over 60 yo, corticosteroids, or transplant)
FQ drug interactions
-Divalent and trivalent cations
-Warfarin
-Ciprofloxacin with theophylline and cyclosporine
Macrolide adverse effects
-GI effects (take with food if possible)
-Thrombophlebitis (dilute dose, administer slowly, or administer into a large vein)
-QTc prolongation
Vancomycin adverse effects
-Red-man syndrome
-Nephrotoxicity
-Ototoxicity
-Thrombophlebitis
-Interstitial nephritis
Synercid adverse effects
-Venous irritation
-Myalgias, arthralgias
Linezolid drug interactions
Can cause serotonin syndrome if given with SSRIs
Linezolid adverse effects
-Optic and peripheral neuropathy
-Thrombocytopenia or anemia
Daptomycin adverse effects
-Myopathy and CPK elevation
-Acute eosinophilic pneumonia
-Interacts with statins

-Can cause teeth discoloration in babies when mother takes this drug while pregnant

-Do not give in pregnant women due to risk of kernicterus
