Ergonomics Flashcards
(12 cards)
Continuum of analysis
Static posture –> Dynamic posture –> Specific function or task
Posture
the static positioning of various joints & body segments
Movement Retraining
promotion of the maintenance of optimal postures during activities of daily living, repetitive tasks & athletic
Ergonomics
the study of the interaction between the worker & their work
What does ergonomics include:
- Enviroment
- Processes
- Tasks
- Tools
- Equipment
Realtion to the ICF model
(work related) disease/ disorder affects –> functions & symptoms, (work- rlelated activities) + (work participation) affects –> Enviromental factors + Personal Factors
Funtional Capacity Evaluation
a set of tests, practices & observations that are combined to determine the ability of the evaluated patient/ client to function in a variety of circumstances
Movement Analysis & Retraining
Proper Lifting in care of the back
- Back neutral
- Wide base of support
- Load cose
- Use legs
- Don’t twist
- Get help
Why lift with legs?
- Inherently more force & power in LE extensors than trunk
-LE joints larger & more stable than those of spine - Activity of quads/ITB,glutes leads to better tightening of fascial planes & force transmission through trunk
- Larger muscular co-contractions/ more GTO activity – better balance
Twisting when lifting leads to
Abnormal loads,
*Slack in overlapping annular rings of disc – more isolated strain patterns
*Non coupled movement patterns at facets; isolated strain points & facet impingement
Common examples of movement anaylis & retraining
- Pattelofemoral tracking
- Supination/Pronation of foot
- Limited joint ROM
- Achilles Tendinopathies
