Essay questions Flashcards
(15 cards)
Give the the Origin & Insertion of Sternomastoid :
origin;
Sternal head: from Mandibrium of Sternum
Clavicular head: from Medial 1/3 of Clavicle
insertion: into Mastoid process & Lateral 1/3 of Superior Nuchal line
Give the Nerve supply & Action of sternomastoid :
nerve supply: Motor from Spinal Accessory nerve & Sensory from C2 & 3
action: when Both muscles contract they bend the neck Forwards & if One muscle contract it bends the neck & Turn it to Opposite side
Give the Origin & Insertion of Digastric :
origin;
Anterior belly: from Digastric fossa on the lower border of Mandible
Posterior belly: from Digastric notch on Medial surface of Mastoid process
insertion: Both bellies are inserted into an Intermediate tendon (which is connected to hyoid bone by a fibrous loop)
Give the Nerve supply & Action of Digastric :
nerve supply;
Anterior belly: Nerve to Mylohyoid
Posterior belly: Facial nerve
action;
Anterior belly: Depress the Mandible
Posterior belly: Elevates Hyoid bone
Give the Origin & Insertion of Mylohoid :
origin: from Mylohyoid line on inner surface of Body of Mandible
insertion;
Anterior fibers into Median Raphe ,
Posterior fibers into Hyoid bone
Give the Nerve supply & Action of Mylohoid :
nerve supply: Nerve to Mylohyoid
action: Support the floor of mouth, Elevates the hyoid bone & Depresses the mandible
ICA begins :
ICA begins at the upper border of Thyroid cartilage as one of the two terminal branches of CCA
ICA ascends :
ICA ascends inside the carotid sheath ; then passes in Carotid canal to enter Cranial cavity, where it runs inside the Cavernous sinus
ICA ends :
ICA ends by dividing into Anterior cerebral artery & Middle cerebral artery which supply the brain
ECA begins :
ECA begins at the upper border of Thyroid cartilage as one of the two terminal branches of CCA
ECA ends :
ECA ends by dividing into Superficial temporal artery & Maxillary artery
ECA ascends :
ECA ascends Outside the carotid sheath to ascend in the Parotid gland
Inferior alveolar nerve is :
Inferior alveolar nerve is a branch from the Mandibular nerve & it is Mixed (sensory & motor)
Inferior alveolar nerve enters :
Inferior alveolar nerve enters Mandibular foramen, pass through Mandibular canal to end at the mental foramen by dividing into Incisor branch & Mental branch
Inferior alveolar nerve branches :
-Before it enters mandibular foramen, It gives nerve to mylohyoid muscle
-In mandibular canal, It gives branches to supply Molars & Premolars of Lower jaw
-Incisive branch supply the Canine & Incisors teeth
-Mental branch supply the Skin of Lower lip & chin
