What is “Fully informed consent” + example

A

Ppts must be fully aware of what will happen, including anything that might turn them away
e.g. Asch told his ppts it was an eye test

What is “Deception” + example

A

Lying to ppts in any way
Can be deemed necessary as long as it doesn’t break protection, and must be revealed in debrief
e.g. Milgram tricking his ppts into thinking they’re killed someone

What is “Protection” + example

A

Protection from physical, mental or emotional harm + neglect
Must be no more than in day to day life of any of these.
e.g. Milgram (mental stress)

What is “Withdrawal” + example

A

Ppts may leave study whenever without prejudice. They must be told this.
e.g. Milgram had 5 lines to say before they were allowed to leave, he argued against this by saying the door was always unlocked

A

Details and info cannot be shared, use initials or pseudo names
Potential to breach protection from harm, especially with socially sensitive research
