What is a teratogen?
Any substance and environment that can have a negative impact on the pregnancy
6 types of teratogens/examples
- Malnutrition (not enough folic acid/vitamins)
- Infectious diseases (Zica virus/STI’s)
- Psychological drugs (caffeine or prescriptions)
- Chronic illnesses (AIDS/cancer)
- Environmental hazards (radiation)
- Stress
