Billy the Kid was a notorious outlaw who committed thefts and murders across New Mexico for years without punishment.
Lincoln county law enforcement was weak-it had muiltiple chances to bring billy the kid to justice but the law offciers were either too corrupt or too scared to stand up for him
Therefore, Billy was able to be violent and lawless for many years before he was killed in 1881.

300 Lakota Sioux were killed including women and children were killed by the us army
native Americans realise that their military resistance was no longer possible
this massacre marked the final defeat of the plain Indians and led them being confined to the reservations, with their traditional way of life destroyed-loss of total Native American independence
