Examples Of Forces Flashcards
To Be Able To Identify And Explain What Different Types Of Forces Are (8 cards)
What is Weight?
Weight is a Force that points towards the source of the gravitational field.
On earth this point is downward.
What is Tension?
Tension is a Force that acts in the direction of a rope or similar object.
What is Friction?
Friction is a Force that acts opposite to the direction of motion when two surfaces are moving
and in contact.
What is Air-Resistance?
Air-Resistance is a Force that acts opposite to the direction of motion in air.
What is Normal Force?
Normal Force is a Force that acts perpendicular to a surface on an object pushing against the surface.
What is Upthrust?
Upthrust is the Force that makes things float.
What is Applied Force?
Applied Force is any push or pull that doesn’t fit into one of the other description of Forces.
What are Drag Forces?
Drag Forces are a group name for all forces that act against the direction of motion. Contains air
resistance, water resistance, and even friction.
