Experiments Flashcards
(6 cards)
What is a dependent variable?
The variable which we measure for every change in the independent variable
What is an independent variable?
The variable changed by the investigator
What is the control variable?
Variables we keep the same throughout the investigation
What is the use of the control variable?
To help establish the relationship between variables by ensuring that other variables don’t affect the results
Give 3 benefits of using a control in an experiment
- Maintains consistency
- Prevent distortion of the results
- Isolates effects
How do you convert the following:
* mm/cm/m to micrometre
* micrometre to mm/cm/m
mm/cm/m to micrometre
* mm → multiply by 1000
* cm → multiply by 10000
* m → multiply by 1000000
micrometre to mm/cm/m
* mm → divide by 1000
* cm → divide by 10000
* m → divide by 1000000
