PROCEDURE
condition 1- pots shown vid of colours in portuguese. vid played 2 times
students complete tests by writing down colour of image in new language
condition 2- pots shown screen with colours written in english and portuguese
students complete test by writing down colour of image in new language condition
questions marked and score compared
FINDINGS
there was a diff in scores in the music and no music-worse on music
highest scored were similar in range
most ppl scored 9,10 very high
average 7.9 so method of learning is successful
no one scored less then 3
what level of measurement was used
and what descriptive statistics did u use
whag inferential statistics
ordinal
mean
man whitney
why use man whitney
independent groups design
ordinal data
test of difference
evaluate each one
what did our inferential statistics suggest
man whitney shows our results aren’t significant so there’s no statistically significant diff between learning performance when a new language is present w music or without
how could u improve the study
more pots - age background
use more difficult words then colours
what made ur study reliable
constitent methods - same song and test used
consistent environment all done in same room
issues of reliability and how u delt w it
diff ppl explaining study- debrief and written procedures written as a script
issues of validity
external- can’t be generalised
internal-some may have experience with learning a new language should question these pots
ethical issues
pressure of test-anxiety potetnial harm
fully informed consent
eight to withdraw not given
