causes increased endometrial development (thickening of the uterus)
Estrogen causes an increase in what other hormone?
LH (luteinizing hormone)
What does an increase in LH cause?
ovulation, which releases the egg
What happens to the empty follicle?
it becomes corpus luteum
What does the corpus luteum produce?
estrogen and progestrone
What does the corpus luteum cause a decrease in?
FSH (due to estrogen production)
Corpus luteum produces estrogen and progesterone for three months (if pregnant), after 3 months what continues the production?
the placenta
