Extroverts
Outgoing, prefer the company of others to being alone, get bored
easily,
Introverts
prefer their own company, they are more cautious and less sociable than
extroverts
Neuroticism
A tendency to
experience negative emotions
such as anger, anxiety and
depression.
Stable
Other end of the scale and these people are calm, even tempered and
carefree.
Strengths
Useful for describing how measurable tendencies could increase a person’s risk of offending.
Some studies of offenders support Eysenck’s predictions that people with high E, N and P are likely to engage in criminal behaviour.
Limitations
Convicted offenders on which the evidence is based may not be typical of offenders as a whole.
Self-report study may not produce valid results as people may lie.
