A

Openness - people who are curious, adventurous or open to new activities might explore outdoor pursuits.

Conscientiousness - people who are organised, self disciplined and dependable more likely play at a higher level and good term members.

Extroversion - outgoing and optimistic people more likely play competitive team sports, while introverts more likely take part in individual activities.

Agreeableness - warm and compassionate people more likely to be good team members while outspoken people more likely to play individual sports.

Neuroticism (emotionality) - easily upset people more likely to be involved in non competitive activities while calm and confident people can cope with competitive situations.

Motivation and intrinsic and extrinsic motivation

A

Motivation is the desire or drive people have to do something.
Extrinsic motivation - motivated by external things ( winning cups), may be motivated at the start but can become disheartened and give up when things do not go their way.
Intrinsic motivation - participate because they really enjoy the physical activity, less likely to give up even if they do not achieve goals.

A

If your parents or older siblings participate in sport then they are more likely to encourage you to get involved.
Family, teachers and coaches are strong influences during childhood but less likely to be major influences during adulthood.

A

Sport can have a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities but there are still challenges for them to get involved.
There are still limited opportunities for participation and still limited accessible facilities which might make them feel unwelcome.
There can be a high cost to compete in disability sport.

If you have lots of money then all activities are within reach.
If you have little money left over than you may be limited in the activities that you can take part in.
