What was the Faschoda incident
A near war-bringing dispute between france and britain over land.
What was Frances original goal
To travel through the white Nile to take control of the upper Nile Basin. (Fashoda)
Who got to the land first —- who came after and tried to claim it even though they were late
France got there first. Britain met france there and inisted the land be theirs.
Was there a fight between Britain and france troops?
No, records show that a fight ALMOST broke out but ULTIMATELY both parties managed to remain calm – they agreed to maintain peace until they got instruction from their home goverment
Who got the land in the end
Britain, France saw more value in giving them the land than fighting over it. This was a good move as it lead to strengthened relations and later the Entente Cordiale in 1904
