Fever is probably the commonest reason for a child to be taken to the doctor though Infections remain the leading cause of death in children under the age of 5 years
- Two-thirds of all children visit a physician for fever before they reach the age of 2 years

A

> 37.5 °C axillary
Normal: 36°C-37.5°C axillary
Hyperpyrexia: >39.5°C

A

Highest point - early evening (5-7pm)
Lowest point – morning (2-6am)
Note: Any abnormal rise in body temperature should be considered a symptom of an underlying condition
