Feedback Flashcards
(18 cards)
What is feedback?
All the sensory info that people can receive during and after a movement
What is intrinsic feedback?
What is another word for it?
Vision, touch, audition
Within
Info that arises naturally from producing a movement
Inherent
Processing feedback - where is it sent and what happens?
Executive part of brain, the actual outcome is compared to desired outcome
What happens if desired outcome = actual outcome?
The motor programme is reinforced
What is the open loop control?
Used to control rapid, discrete movements by pre-structured demands sent to the effector system.
What is a closed loop control?
Uses feedback and error to maintain desired goal. Slow deliberate movements
What is the comparator?
A system that helps with error detection by comparing current movement patterns with previous ones
What is proprioception?
Allows us to know where our limbs are without looking
What are muscle spindles?
Sensitive to the change in length and speed in muscles fibres
What are Golgi tendons?
Detect tension in the muscle, prevents Injury
What is balance?
Organs in the middle ear send messages to the CNS that relate to turning and tripping
What is the vestibular?
In the inner ear, detects head position, motion, spatial awareness, balance etc
What is extrinsic feedback?
What is another word for it?
Info provided to learner via an outside source
Augmented
What is knowledge of results?
Feedback based on the outcome (augmental)
What is knowledge of performance?
Feedback based on the process/ movement pattern
What is program feedback?
Info the feedback that provides info about the fundamentals of the movement
What is parameter feedback?
Feedback that provides info about specific aspects of the movement
What is summary feedback?
After a number of attempts
