What was the old ideas and info processing?
Brain was like a computer, input, something happens in the brain and then an output (movement)
What is the new idea of info processing and who is it by?
Human performance model (Schmidt and Weisberg)
What are the 4 main segments to the human processing model?
Input, executive, effector, output
What is the input?
All the info in the environment
What are the 3 segments in the executive?
Stimulus identification, response selection, response programming
What is stimulus identification?
Gather all the info from the environment and identify what’s relevant. STM and uses all the different senses
What is response selection?
Decision making (the selection of one option from 2 or more options)
What is response programming?
Using stored motor programmes/schemas to direct a response. Uses LTM
What is the effector?
Info passed though the body. Starts at the brain, CNS, peripheral NS, neuromuscular junctions
What is the output?
Seeing the movement
What are the 3 areas motor behaviour is made up of?
Motor control, motor learning and motor development
What is motor behaviour?
Any motor action that it used to achieve a task
