When the first syllable of a string of words has the same sound.

Onomatopoeia
A word related to a sound, like BOOM or POW.
BOOM! The rocket blasted off from the launch pad.
Symbol
Something that represents another object, idea, person, or thing.
A dove flew over the wedding, showing the couple’s everlasting love.
Apostrophe
Talking to an inanimate object or something that is not there.
“O happy dagger! This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die.”
Analogy
A comparison between two things, typically for the purpose of simplification or explanation.
Life is like a deck of cards: you never know what you are going to draw.
