Cause and Effect
A relationship where one event (cause) leads to another (event).
Because Elias plugged in his phone, it was charged for the morning.
Chronological Order
Ordering things by the order they occured in.
First, I woke up. Then, I showered, Finally, I ate breakfast.
Comparison/Contrast
Ordering things by comparing and contrasting them.
A basketball is orange, unlike a baseball, which is white and red.
Main Idea
The biggest idea behind a text that the author is trying to convey.
For example, something like **climate change is a danger to all humans.*
Supporting Details
Details that supports the main idea.
For example, climate change is melting ice, causing sea levels to rise.
Summary
A breif overview of the text.
Inference
Making an assumption based on evidence.
If someone slams a door, you can infer they are upset.
Context Clues
Clues in the surrounding text that allow you to figure out what a word means.
“The flora of the region, or the plant life, is incredibly diverse.”
