What are inferior courts?
The term used in the Constitution to refer to the Federal District (trial) courts and U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals.
What is a majority opinion?
The opinion that indicates the case will be overturned.
What is a concurring opinion?
The opinion of a justice who agrees that the case should be overturned but for different reasons.
What is a dissenting opinion?
The opinion of those who disagree with the majority.
What is suffrage?
The right to vote in political elections.
What is political socialization?
The process where individuals develop their political values and beliefs.
What are interest groups?
Associations that attempt to influence public policy in their favor.
What is the Electoral College?
A group of electors chosen in each State and D.C. who make the formal election of the President and Vice President.
What does winner-take-all mean?
Whoever wins the popular vote in a state gets all electoral votes of that state.
What is the popular vote?
The votes of the American people, which is the tally of individual voters.
What is an electoral vote?
Equals the total votes of the States’ electors.
