what was the schlieffen plan?
Germany wanted to invade France through Belgium and the Netherlands, with the goal of quickly defeating French forces before turning eastward to engage Russia.

What’s the other name for the Triple Entente? Who was in the Triple Entente? Who were they protecting?
Another name for the Triple Entente was “The Red White and Blue Club” Members:
-GB Protecting; Belgium
-France No body
-Russia Protecting: Serbia
(and Later the U.S)
How was WW1 started (Guns of August)?
1) Austria declared war on Serbia after a Serb assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Because Russia is protecting Serbia that brings them into the war.
2) Germany declares war on Russia because Russia mobilizes troops to protect Serbia. Germany tells Russia to stay out of it and Russia says “Fuk you Germany”
3) Germany on France because of their alliance with Russia
4) GB on Germany because of Germany’s Schellifen plan (Germany wanted to invade France through Belgium, and GB says “Get the F out dude” Germany said “Ermmmm, no” So GB declared war
What were the causes for WW1? What did they mean?
M: Militarism - a belief in the importance of a strong military and the willingness to use it aggressively to protect a country’s interests or advance its political goals. Created by a rise in Nationalism
A: Alliance system - Triple Entente, Triple Alliance
TE: France, Russia -Serbia, GB -Belgium (and latter the U.S)
TA: Austria-Hungary, Germany, Italy
I: Imperialism - One country controlling another economics, resources, etc. Imperialism was spread by the Dash for Africa
N: Nationalism -Extensive pride in ones country and the belief it is Superior to other nations. The rise of Nationalism lead to a rise of Militarism.

What is Economic Liberalism?
A broad political and economic philosophy that advocates for individual freedoms, private property, free markets, and limited government intervention in the economy.
What is Laissez-Faire Economics?
A more extreme form of economic liberalism advocating for no government intervention in the economy whatsoever.
What was the Napoleonic code?
1) Equality Before the Law
- All male citizens were equal under the law (no privileges based on birth, title, or class).
- Feudalism and hereditary nobility were abolished.
2) Secular Law
-Separation of church and state in legal matters.
- Civil laws replaced canon (church) laws.
3) Property Rights
-Strong protection of private property.
- Simplified inheritance laws to prevent land fragmentation.
4) Civil Liberties & Duties
-Emphasized freedom of contract and individual responsibility.
- Family law was also included: authority of the husband/father was reinforced, and women’s rights were restricted (e.g., in divorce and property matters).
