How does it present? Why?

A
  • it generally produces multifocal inflammatory lesions throughout the nervous system
  • generally present with multifocal lesion localisation
  • insidiously progressive
  • sometimes present initially as a progressive hindlimb paresis, which eventually will become more generalised with multifocal signs

Tx and prognosis

A
  • prognosis without tx is hopeless
  • new tx regimes e.g. remdesivir/GS-441524 can produce remarkable results
