What is it?
A
- thromboembolic pathology affecting the caudal aorta or iliac vessels
- basically the whole rear end of the animal is ischaemic

Prevalence
A
- very common in cats
- rare in dogs

Presentation
A
- pain, pulseless, pale, paretic hindlegs
- very rarely can be seen as a unilateral forelimb problem in cats, but will be painful, pulseless, pale, paretic forelimb

What is it usually secondary to?
A
- cardiovascular disease in the cat
- Cushing’s or kidneys in dogs

- tx the underlying cause
