A

Get STARTED:
1. PLAN your action

  1. ELIMINATE further danger
  2. GATHER needed materials
  3. Remember the initial response (AID)
    - A: Ask for help
    - I: Intervene
    - D: Do no further harm
  4. Instruct helpers

First Aid Dont’s

  1. Do NOT HARM
  2. Do NOT let the casualty SEE his/her injury
  3. Do NOT LEAVE the casualty EXCEPT to GET HELP
  4. Do NOT ASSUME that the casualty’s obvious injuries are the ONLY ONES
  5. Do NOT make UNREALISTIC PROMISES
  6. Do NOT come in contact with BLOOD with your BARE HANDS (use GLOVES/CLEAN CLOTH)
  7. Do NOT REMOVE a blood-soaked dressing
  8. Do NOT use DIRECT PRESSURE on a skull fracture or an eye injury
  9. Do NOT TRUST the casualty’s judgment
  10. Do NOT force the casualty to DECIDE
  11. Do NOT give an UNCONSCIOUS PERSON anything to DRINK or EAT
  12. Do NOT forget that saving the person’s life is more important than saving a body part.
  13. Do NOT overlook other, less obvious, injuries
  14. Do NOT attempt to push any part back
    into place
  15. Do NOT place a tourniquet, unless the
    bleeding is life threatening, as the
    entire limb may be harmed.
