1. PLAN your action
- ELIMINATE further danger
- GATHER needed materials
- Remember the initial response (AID)

First Aid Dont’s
A
- Do NOT HARM
- Do NOT let the casualty SEE his/her injury
- Do NOT LEAVE the casualty EXCEPT to GET HELP
- Do NOT ASSUME that the casualty’s obvious injuries are the ONLY ONES
- Do NOT make UNREALISTIC PROMISES
- Do NOT come in contact with BLOOD with your BARE HANDS (use GLOVES/CLEAN CLOTH)
- Do NOT REMOVE a blood-soaked dressing
- Do NOT use DIRECT PRESSURE on a skull fracture or an eye injury
- Do NOT TRUST the casualty’s judgment
- Do NOT force the casualty to DECIDE
- Do NOT give an UNCONSCIOUS PERSON anything to DRINK or EAT
- Do NOT forget that saving the person’s life is more important than saving a body part.
- Do NOT overlook other, less obvious, injuries
- Do NOT attempt to push any part back
into place - Do NOT place a tourniquet, unless the
bleeding is life threatening, as the
entire limb may be harmed.

- OBTAIN CONSENT whenever possible
- IDENTIFY YOURSELF to the casualty
- Provide EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
- RESPECT the MODESTY & PRIVACY of the casualty
- CALL or SEND for HELP
- Handle the casualty to a MINIMUM
- LOOSEN all TIGHT CLOTHING
- Keep onlookers AWAY
- Care for the MOST SERIOUS INJURY FIRST
