Media refers to the form of mass communication that is used in society
New media refers to forms of communication that arrived after the digital revolution
Digital Revolution
Traditional forms of media relied upon: newspapers, television and radio signals.
Digital transmission developed after post-war years becoming mass-use from the 1990s onwards.
Digital revolution: Advanced range of media available for people to use and consume.

Streaming networks. Eg, Steam, Netflix.

Growth of new media
Increasingly social media use. Like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. This is where individuals can connect with people worldwide.

Traditional Mass Media
E-readers have replaced physical books and magazines in digital formats.
Newspapers and magazines are producing online content.
