The formula for density?
Density = Mass / Volume
Converting from C to F
add 40 to the given number in C
multiply that by 9/5
then subtract 40
Converting from F to C
add 40 to the given number in F
multiply that by 5/9
then subtract 40
Converting from C to K
add 273
the formula for energy
q = specific heat x change in temp x mass
Specific heat formula
Cs = Jules/mass x temp
Calculating amounts from balanced chemical equations
Actual mass of substance / adjusted molar mass (AMM)= moles of substance.
Multiply moles of given substance by AMM to get grams of substance in reaction
Boyle’s Gas Law
P₁V₁ = P₂V₂ (moles and temp constant)
Charles Gas Law
V₁/T₁ = V₂/T₂ (moles and pressure constant)
Combines Gas Law
P₁V₁/T₁ = P₂V₂/T₂ (moles constant)
ideal gas law
PV = nRT
R(constant)
Ideal gas constant (R)
R = 0.0821 (L)(atm)/(mole)(K)
Dalton’s Gas Law
P Total = P₁+P₂+P₃…

%(m/m) concentration
Mass if solute, g
Divided by
Mass if solution, g
Times 100
Remember!!!! you have to divide by the SOLUTION not the SOLVENT. You have to add the solute to the solvent to get the solution mass before dividing.
%(v/v) concentration
Volume of solute, mL
Divided by
Volume of solution, mL
Times 100
Solute and solution have to be in same units ( L & L, mL & mL, etc)
%(m/v) concentration
Mass of solute, g
Divided by
Volume if solution, mL
Times 100
Solution must be in mLs
Molarity
Moles of solute, mol
Divided by
Liters of solution, L
Dilution
(Cs) (Vs) = (Cd)(Vd)
