Fuel System Flashcards
(47 cards)
Main fuel tank capacity
8,234 lbs/1,229 gallons
Center Fuel Tank Capacity
27,932 lbs/4,169 gallons
Forward Aux Tank Capacity
10,050 lbs/1,500 gallons
Aft Aux Tank Capacity
16,589 lbs/2,476 gallons
Total Aux Fuel Capacity
26,639 lbs/3,976 gallons
Total Fuel Capacity without Aux Fuel
44,400 lbs/6,627 gallons
Total Fuel Capacity with Aux Fuel
71,040 lbs/10,603 gallons
Surge Tank Capacity
57 Gallons
How many fuel pumps
2 AC pumps per tank (6 total)
How is fuel used by center tank first?
Center pumps are more pressurized forcing use first
How are the fuel pumps cooled and lubricated?
Fuel passing through
How is aux fuel transfered?
1) OBIGGS
2) Right Environmental Control System PACK Water Separator
3) Differential Pressure
When does Aux Fuel Transfer?
Center tank is less than 4,000 gallons (26,800 lbs)
10 minutes after airborne
10 minutes after AAR powered off
Where does Aux Fuel Transfer?
Center tank
When will aux fuel not transfer
If center tank is less than 400 lbs
What happens to fuel pumps after tank is empty?
Auto shutoff to not burn the motor out
What if the pumps fail?
Suction Feed
Risk of Suction feed?
Flameout on climb. Dissolved air and light fuel constituents are released which can restrict fuel flow. Will deplete at cruise
Scavenge Jet Pumps
Transfer fuel from center tank to left main tank. Must have No1 forward fuel pump on and tank must be 1/2 full
Fuel Cross Feed power
DC Power on Battery Bus
How does cross feed work?
Turn off pump you dont want feeding. Will lead to imbalance if forgotten about
What are the types of shutoff valves?
Spar Valve and Engine Fuel Shutoff Valve
Spar Valve Location
Engine mounting wing station
Spar Valve Power
DC Power on Hot Battery Bus
