It is the starting play in volleyball and it’s key to gaining an advantage.
Serve
The player strikes the ball below the waist, providing consistency, accuracy, and control.
Underhand Serve
The player toss the ball into the air and strikes it with an overhand motion.
Overhand Serve
Tossing the ball high, taking an approach, and jumping to strike it.
Jump Serve
To receive the ball from a serve or attack and initiate the pass-set-spike sequence.
Pass (Bump)
It is usually the second contact with the ball. To position the ball in the air for an attack by a hitter.
Set
It is an aggressive attack where a player jumps and hits the ball downward into the opponents court.
Spike
It is a defensive action where a player jumps to stop or slow down an opponents attack by using their hands.
Block
Often used when the defense is scattered or scrambling.
Single Block
Two blockers work together to form a walk against the attack.
Double Block
Three blockers jumps in unison to shut down a dominant.
Triple Block
It is the first line of defense against a spike or attack, preventing the ball from touching the court.
