Strengths - Sears et al (1957)

  • Sears et al (1957) found that parents allowed sons to be more aggressive than daughters,as for mothers being a boy meant being aggressive. Parents believed the respond in the same way to boys and girl, but can actually intervene more frequently when girls are aggressive.

  • She observed children playing at home with their parents reording the reinforcements (e.g. Praise and Punishment) the parents provided. She found that boys and girls were reinforced and punished for different behaviours.
